The Workshop will be held at the headquarters of the Morocco meteorological service in Casablanca, Morocco, 26 -30 October 2015.

Objective

RTHs play a central role in the exchange of information across Africa and in supporting the new WIS infrastructure and capabilities for the Region. The first part of the workshop (26-27 October 2015) aims to bring RTH experts from RA I up to date on the new functionalities of WIS, the staff competencies required by Members to be able to implement and use WIS, and to clarify the role of the RTHs and GTS within WIS.

RA I RTH experts will be joined by WIS experts from northern Africa to participate in a follow up workshop (28-30 October 2015) to refine the WIS implementation plan with a focus on GISC services in northern Africa. RTH experts will take on a training role for other participants to help consolidate their own knowledge and experience from the RTH workshop, in order to refine the RA I WIS Implementation Plan and preparation for sub-regional workshops planned for other parts of the region in which RTHs will also play a leading role.

If possible, you should bring a laptop computer to the workshop. You will need a browser, text editor (such as Notepad), word procesor compatible with Microsoft .doc and .docx files, and a PDF reader. You will find a viewer for Powerpoint files(.ppt and .pptx) useful.
