South East Europe Assessment Phase (SEEDRMAP)

In 2007, the World Bank, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR) initiated the South Eastern Europe Disaster Risk Mitigation and Adaptation Programme (SEEDRMAP), aiming at developing or strengthening national capacities in this region along three components: (i) Disaster risk management institutional capacities and governance; (ii) Hydrometeorological services and their cooperation with sectors; and (iii) Financial risk transfer mechanisms, to assist the beneficiaries in reducing risks associated with natural hazards. During the first phase of the project, fact finding surveys and desk-top studies were performed as the basis for the development of relevant projects in the following areas:

Risk Assessment for South East Europe: Desk Study Review, 2008

Strengthening the Hydro-meteorological Services in South Eastern Europe, 2008

SEE Financial Effects Mitigating the Adverse Financial Effects of Natural Hazards on the Economies of South Eastern Europe, 2008 Structure, Role and Mandate for Civil Protection for Disaster Risk Reduction in South East Europe, 2008
