Eighteenth World Meteorological Congress elects Mr Ian Lisk as president of new Services Commission
Today, 13 June 2019, the Eighteenth World Meteorological Organization (Cg-18) elected Mr Ian Lisk as the president of a new Services Commission. Mr Lisk is currently the president of the Commission for Aeronautical Meteorology (CAeM). The commencement of the Services Commission and other new WMO constiuent bodies, and the dissolution of existing WMO constituent bodies including CAeM, will be undertaken as part of a WMO reform transition plan over the coming months.

WMO makes available an advanced, unedited edition of the outcomes of the 2019 CAeM global survey
WMO has made available an advanced, unedited edition of AeM SERIES No. 4 - Outcomes of the 2019 CAeM Global Survey Sensitivity Analysis of Future Meteorological Service to Aviation.
AeM SERIES No. 4 responds directly to Decision 42 (EC-69), providing detailed information on the response to the survey conducted in February and March 2019 and identifing conclusions and recommendations to help inform WMO planning of aviation-related activities in the future.

IATA publishes 2018 Safety Report with input from WMO
The 2018 Safety Report of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) was published on 1 April 2019 and is available here. The WMO Secretariat directly contributed to the review of the 2018 accidents and the publication of this latest report.

Long-term plan for aeronautical meteorology now available
A long-term plan for aeronautical meteorology has been developed by the Commission for Aeronautical Meteorology. A final draft of the first edition of the long-term plan is available here. This advanced, unedited document is subject to review and endorsement by the Eighteenth World Meteorological Congress (Cg-18) to be held 3 to 14 June 2019 in Geneva, Switzerland.

The CAeM has launched its 2019 global survey!
The Commission for Aeronautical Meteorology (CAeM) has today launched its 2019 global survey. In response to a request emanating from WMO's Executive Council, this year's global survey is intended to gather direct feedback from Permanent Representatives of WMO Members of their sensitivity to current and foreseen future changes in aeronautical meteorological service provision. The global survey is open through to the end of February 2019.

WMO has published an update to Technical Regulations (WMO-No. 49), Volume II, Meteorological Service for International Air Navigation.
The 2018 edition of WMO-No. 49, Volume II is aligned with Amendment 78 to ICAO Annex 3 - Meteorological Service for International Air Navigation.
