After graduating from the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 1973, Dr Wong conducted his post-graduate studies in the University of Cincinnati in USA.  He joined the Hong Kong Observatory, Hong Kong, China in 1978 and is now the Assistant Director of the Hong Kong Observatory in charge of the Forecasting and Warning Services Branch responsible for the development and implementation of weather forecasting operations and services.  Currently, Dr Wong serves as Chairman of the Working Group on Natural Disaster Prevention and Mitigation in Regional Associations II (Asia) and the Chair of the Expert Team on Public Weather Services in support of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation of the OPAG on Public Weather Services.  He is also the Vice Chair of ESCAP/WMO Typhoon Committee Working Group on Disaster Preparedness and Prevention.
