Ms. Martin is a qualified meteorologist with more than 20 years experience ranging from official weather observing to operational forecasting to television broadcasting.  Over the past decade Ms. Martin has won many major national and international awards in regards to television and radio presentation – from the Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society’s (CMOS) “Citation for Outstanding TV Weather Presentation” (2004), to the International Weather Festival’s (FIM) “Best Weather Presenter” trophy (2000, 2001 & 2003).  She holds the National Weather Association’s (NWA) TV Seal of Approval, and in 2005 became the first Canadian to achieve the American Meteorological Society’s (AMS) Certified Broadcast Meteorologist seal. In 2005, Ms Martin joined the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), to help create and launch the CBC Weather Centre. Rapid expansion now sees the Weather Centre providing weather forecasts on multi platforms for 14 regions across Canada as well as employing 10 on-air meteorologists, and 5 regional “non-meteorological” weather presenters. Claire herself appears nightly on the CBC’s flagship national newscast “The National” as well as the local CBC Vancouver’s 6 p.m. newscast.
