Recent meetings & activities

  • WMO in collaboration with the Indian Ocean Commission the Second Meeting Of The Steering Committee Of The Indian Ocean Data Rescue Initiative (Indare-Sc2), 19-20 October 2015, Indian Ocean Commission Headquarter, Eb�ne, Mauritius

  • World Meteorological Organization (WMO) is organizing, in collaboration with the Meteorological Service of Namibia, a Workshop on the Implementation of the WMO Integrated Global Observing System (WIGOS) . The workshop will be held in Walvis Bay, Namibia, from 2 to 4 November 2015. The Workshop is organized according to the decisions made by the Seventeenth World Meteorological Congress (Geneva, May-June 2015) for the Pre-operational Phase of WIGOS from 2016 to 2019.

  • World Meteorological Organization (WMO) is organizing, in collaboration with the Meteorological Service of Kenya an RA I WIS Training and Planning Workshop (Nairobi, Kenya, 2-6 November 2015

  • Workshop On National Strategic Planning Process For National Meteorological And Hydrological Services (NMHSs) In Regional Association I (RA I, Africa) Provisional Programme Nairobi, Kenya, 9-11 November 2015

  • WMO in collaboration with the UK Met Office is organising the third climsoft development workshop in Kenya, Kisumu from 02nd to 13th November 2015. The objectives of this workshop will be to introduce to potential developers/contributors to the development tools and techniques, review the core software that has been developed, test and evaluate the beta Climsoft

  • The WMO Project Officer is participating in a training on Post Disaster Needs Assessment organized by the United Nations Development Group, the European Union and the World Bank in Nairobi from the 3rd to 6th of November. The aim with the training is to establish a group of professionals able to undertake needs assessment on the ground and coach others in the use of the methodology in Eastern Africa.

  • Kenya Meteorological Society is organising a conference in Kisumu, Kenya from 11-13 November, 2015 with the Theme: Weather, Climate and Environmental Research Innovation in support of sustainable development

  • WMO is organizing a regional capacity building workshop on data rescue, homogenization and climate change indices in Arusha from the 9th to the 14th of November.

  • A workshop on improving service delivery for main user groups is organized in Malawi on the 23rd to 27th of November by the Public Weather Services project and the Severe Weather Forecasting Demonstration project.

  • WMO is organising the sixth Eastern Africa Regional Training on Severe Weather Forecasting and Warning Services: Workshop on public Weather Services and Agrometeorology, 23-27 November, 2015, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

  • The GFCS Adaptation Programme in Africa is organizing a learning event on integrating climate and weather in participatory planning and assessment methodologies on the 1st and the 2nd of February, aimed at regional practitioners
