Recent meetings & activities

• WMO in collaboration with the ECOWAS Commission held a validation session of the draft Implementation and Resource Mobilization Plan of the ECOWAS Meteorology Programme by the Expert Group consisting of representatives from some member states and regional institutions, in the ECOWAS Secretariat Abuja, Nigeria from 10-11 November 2015. From this, the ECOWAS Meteorology Programme and its Implementation and Resource Mobilization Plans will be translated to French, distributed to member countries and a broader validation session to hold towards the end of the first quarter of 2016. After this session, mobilisation of resources for implementation will commence.

• WMO in collaboration with the National Meteorological Services of Cote d'Ivoire held the METAGRI Operational Project Final Technical Workshop from 23 -27 November 2015 in Abidjan.

• WMO in collaboration with National Meteorological Services of Benin, held a Regional Training Workshop on the Preparation of National Strategic Plans for National Meteorological and Hydrological Services in Francophone countries in RA I, 18 - 20 November 2015, Cotonou, Benin.

• WMO in collaboration with the Agence Nationale de l'Aviation Civile et de la Meteorologie of Senegal organized a Training Workshop on Severe Weather Forecasting and Warning Services for Western and Central Africa from 2 - 6 November 2015 in Dakar

• WMO in collaboration with National Meteorological Services of the Kingdom of Morocco, held the RA I WIS RTH Implementation Training and Planning Workshop in Casablanca, October 26 -30, 2015.

• WMO meeting with the Commercial Department of NIMET, in the WMO Office, Abuja on 10 September 2015. Modalities of regional collaboration and partnership in the area of competencies, packaging and marketing of meteorological services to the various user sectors, among others, that could benefit NMHSs of the Subregion were discussed.

- Organize Regional Validation and Adoption Meeting - April 2016

• Meeting with Commercial Department of NIMET on 15th December 2015.

• Follow up with authorities of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) and the President of Committee of Directors of NMHSs in Central Africa (PR of Cameroon) on holding of 4th Meeting of Directors.

• Pursue consultations with the Regional AGRHYMET Centre on preparations for designation as RCC West Africa.

• Assist Liberia to benefit from daily television weather forecasts from NiMet.
