Structure of the .kml files
SYNOP and TEMP
CLIMAT

The fields of the .kml files are:
Latitude [LAT]; Longitude [LON]; WMO index number [IIIII]; number of reports received by MTN centres [MAXT]; WMO Regional Association [RA]; and the field [ICON] for the icon .gif file in the WMO server.

Note: The precision of the coordinates of the stations is that of Volume A, i.e. at the level of minutes for both the latitude and the longitude.

Monitoring analysis of SYNOP and TEMP reports received from RBSN stations during the most recent SMM exercise.

Monitoring analysis of CLIMAT and CLIMAT TEMP reports received from RBCN stations during the most recent SMM exercise.

To view the reporting stations around the globe:

(1) Download the [.kml] files to your computer by selecting "File save as" or an equivalent function;

(2) .kml files can be visualized using a kml-browser. Open the files using any map/earth browser - such as Google Earth or similar. (Several map browsers offer a free reader's version. You may visit their websites and select the free download.)

Icon's legend:

BLUE: stations for which more than 90 percent of the reports were received

GREEN: stations for which 45 to 90 percent of the reports were received

ORANGE: stations for which less than 45 percent of the reports were received

RED: silent stations.

Icon's legend:

BLUE: stations for which a monthly report was received.

RED: silent stations.
