National Programmes:

  • United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland  [current status]
  • United States of America

As a result of Hurricane Katrina, the Buoy, C-MAN, Ship, and Drifting Buoy Observations via www.ndbc.noaa.gov are unavailable.

The National Data Buoy Center has been evacuated and communications lines remain down. The extent of damage to the facilities and equipment is not fully known at the present time.

Buoy and C-MAN data is available at NOAA's Forecast Systems Laboratory http://www-frd.fsl.noaa.gov/mesonet/ and on the webpages of several coastal Weather Forecast Offices http://www.nws.noaa.gov/om/marine/marine_map.htm as an alternative.

As additional information on the status of the NDBC site becomes available, they will make updates to this page.
