Mission

Support the implementation of the RA VI-17 resolutions and decisons related to WIS

Terms of Reference

Oversee the planning and implementation of the WMO Information System (WIS) in the Region, ensuring all Members benefit from WIS;
Provide regional coordination on WIS audit schedules and on operational monitoring by GISCs;

Monitor WIS training and development including maintaining the table in the Annex to Resolution 12 (RA VI-17) (2018-2021);

Coordinate information sharing about WIS 2.0 pilot projects and their outcomes keeping Members informed of WIS 2.0 progress;
Provide feedback from its Members to the Commission for Basic Systems (CBS) on the development and implementation of WIS 2.0;

Collaborate closely with the European Centre for Medium-range Weather Forecasts Operations Committee managing the Regional Meteorological Data Communication Network and the Expert Team on Communication Techniques and Systems of WMO Commission for Basic Systems;

In coordination with TT-WIGOS, review the role of Regional Telecommunications Hubs (RTHs) in the region, including operational, technical and capacity development aspects affecting the flow and quality assurance processes of operational information;

Report to the RA VI MG and the WMO Secretariat on the progress.
