Terms of References
In cooperation with EUMETNET Aviation Support Programme, WMO Aeronautical Meteorology Programme 2019-2033 and CAeM Operating Plan 2016-2019:
- To promote the interaction of RA VI with the EUMETNET for mutual benefit, in particular in the context of implementing the ICAO meteorological information exchange model (IWXXM) and other ICAO policies;
- To monitor ICAO policies implementation related to the MET component of the GANP/ASBU strategy to be supported by MET service providers at the regional / sub-regional levels;
- To provide assistance in the planning process by MET service providers and Space Weather information providers and in development of compatible aeronautical meteorological systems to meet ICAO policies and WMO Cg-18 (2019) decisions;
- To coordinate ongoing regional / sub-regional projects implementation, e.g. on SIGMET issuance, SWIM environment, IWXXM format, etc.
- To support a coordinated effort to involve Members in exchanging best practice examples on enhanced MET service and information provision;
- To ensure the increased awareness of global AeM related implementation process and the role of the Region in this process, particularly the ICAO framework for the provision of Space Weather Information;
- To encourage the Members in achieving the maximum cost-effectiveness for the whole set of MET services and products through the costs recovery mechanisms;
- To further strengthen the partnership and coordination with relevant regional and national aviation stakeholders and the harmonization of national cost-recovery mechanisms for aeronautical meteorological service provision;
- To invite Members to consider the outcomes of the European Conference on Meteorology for Aviation (ECMA-2015), the EC-69 Special Dialogue on the Future of Aeronautical Meteorological Services, and the Aeronautical Meteorology Scientific Conference (AeroMetSci-2017) and CAeM Global Survey 2016-2017 in the planning of their future aeronautical meteorological systems, services and related research;
- To communicate to all RA VI Members the results of the EUMETNET General Assembly on Aviation Strategy and the 16th session of the Commission for Aeronautical Meteorology;
- To report to the RA VI Management Group on the evolution of the ICAO policies and implementation process in the RA VI Member-countries;
- To report to the RA VI Management Group and to the WMO Secretariat on the available resources and potential of the Members to maintain the global implementation process.
