Regional coordination mechanism serves to conect national actions to global commitments and partnerships supporting sustainable level for all. The need for coordination increases directly with the amount of reciprocal interdependance among stakeholders.

The Regional Association VI is responsible for the coordination of meteorological, hydrological and related activities within the Region VI (Europe).

The delegates of RA VI Members assembles once every four years to determine general regional policies for the fulfilment of the purposes of the Organization; to consider and establish coordination bodies to increase cooperation acros its Members; to revise and approve the resolutions; to approve long-term plans for the following financial period; and to elect a president and a vice-president for the Region.

The president of the Regional Association VI is an ex officio member of the WMO Executive Council.
