Ms Gaborekwe Khambule of the South African Weather Service and co-lead of the WMO Commission for Aeronautical Meteorology (CAeM) Expert Team on Education, Training and Competency (ET-ETC) has recently received an Aviation Professional Award from the South African Civil Aviation Authority for her contribution to aviation in the Republic of South Africa, in the African region and beyond.

Upon hearing the news, Mr Ian Lisk, president of the CAeM, congratulated Gabo on being selected as the winner of the Aviation Professional category at the 2019 South African Civil Aviation Industry Awards. Ian went on to add that "Gabo should be rightly proud that her success will help to inspire the next generation of women in meteorology, aviation and in leadership roles more generally.”
