On 1 June 2011, Cg XVI designated 5 GISCs and 37 DCPCs as operationally ready WIS centres.
They also conditionally designated a further 7 GISCs and 49 DCPCs from 18 countries subject to their successful completion of the CBS demonstration process prior to EC LXIV. A list of designated centres is available from

http://www.wmo.int/pages/prog/www/WIS/centres/index_en.php?advancedSearch=2011-06-01&advancedOption=8

These centres constitute the initial implementation of WIS and will be
listed in the inaugural publication of the Manual on WIS.

Congratulations to all.
WIS was demonstrated live at a side meeting of Cg XVI on Saturday 21 of May. This was a joint effort by ACMAD, CMA, DWD, EUMETSAT, INMET, IRIMO, JMA, Met.No, MF, and the Met Office and showed the new functions of WIS across various WIS centres using a hypothetical food security analysis as an overarching theme. The side meeting was well attended and received very positive feedback from the audience.

The story of the demonstration can be downloaded here. There are also some of the posters of the WIS exhibition.
