WIGOS and climate station metadata describe observations and the conditions under which they were made. The WIGOS metadata standard is defined in the Manual on WIGOS (WMO-No. 2210), and the climate station metadata in the Climate Data Management System Specifications (WMO-No. 1131).

The XML representation of this information is one of the family of Model Driven Code Forms.

State of development

The current draft of the proposed standard is known as "wdrm beta2".
