8.3 DCPCs also manage regional or specialised information, and related data and products for international exchange. Centres acting as a Regional Specialized Meteorological Centre (RSMC) or a Regional Telecommunication Hub (RTH) should operate as a DCPC.
8.4 Various centres around the world provide through international agreements a variety of products for WMO Programmes, such as specialized data (e.g. buoys), hydrological products, and climatological products. Such centres should participate in WIS as a DCPC, or arrange for another DCPC to receive and disseminate its products.
8.5 In addition to handling time critical data for others, DCPCs should be responsible for providing data and products through request/reply services especially via the Internet.
8 PROVISIONS SPECIFIC TO DCPCS ONLY
8.1 As required per WMO No. 49, Vol I, A.3, WIS DCPCs collect, disseminate, add value to, and archive regional or programme-specific data and products. DCPCs maintain catalogues of their holdings and services, and appropriate parts of these catalogues update a comprehensive catalogue of WIS holdings, hosted by the GISCs.8.2 Refer to Manual on WIS 8 for standard and recommended practices, procedures and specifications on this topic.
