Dear Reader,

This Newsletter was first introduced in 1982, at the request of the Commission for Basic Systems (CBS), with the objective of providing World Weather Watch Centres with urgent notifications and a summary of the latest operational information on the World Weather Watch and Marine Meteorological Services.  In December 2001 the CBS Management Group approved the electronic distribution of the Newsletter thus enabling operational centres to receive up-to-date information on a near real-time basis.

This Newsletter is published at the end of each month and is disseminated free of charge through our on-line service.  Check our home page for the most recent issue, alternatively, complete the subscription form (if you havn’t already done so) and we will contact you when it is made available.

We hope that this Newsletter has been of service to you.  Should you feel that we did not meet with your requirements please contact us.

 CODES

WMO No. 386 - Manual on Codes: Volume II - Regional Codes and National Coding Practices

Notification from The Netherlands

Of  the following national deviations from the global regulations for: FM 15 METAR, FM 16 SPECI and FM 51 TAF [to view]

As previously announced, Amd. 73 changes for METAR and SPECI were operationally implemented in February 2006.

Initially, Amd. 73 TAF changes were expected to be implemented around June 2006.  However, several causes contributed to a renewed delay.  At present, it is expected that TAF implementation plus changes built into the newly developed systems and software, will be implemented no earlier than the 1st week of August 2006.

A considerable amount of the reported deviations is linked to (assumed) future code changes, generally coming under the proposed Amd. 74 / 2007 changes.  They are already declared operational in The Netherlands.
