The fifty-first session of the WMO Executive Council approved the Organization in 2000 for a Workshop on Use of Ensemble Prediction. Thanks to the very kind and excellent hospitality of China, a Workshop on Use of Ensemble Prediction Systems was organized at the Chinese Meteorological Administration (CMA) in Beijing, from 26 to 20 October 2000.

The main purpose of the workshop was to share the state of the art in the applications of Ensemble Prediction Systems (EPS) by scientists and forecasters from advanced producers and users, for the benefit of meteorological forecasting services to make the best use and interpretation of EPS products. Keynotes speakers had been invited to deliver presentation on major topics. Participants came from Regional Specialized Meteorological Centres and from CMA Offices. The list of participants and the programme for the workshop were also included in this report.
