THE HYDROMETRIC TECHNICIAN CAREER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM (CDP) |

1. Purpose and objectives To provide a WEB-based training package for hydrometric technicians. 2. Description The Career Development Program (CDP) provides on-the-job training
and has proved to be effective in developing competent, qualified hydrometric
technicians. The objective of the CDP is to train hydrometric technicians
in the concepts and techniques of water quantity surveys using a planned 3. Input Not applicable. 4. Output Not applicable. 5. Operational requirements and restrictions The current version of CDP was written in HTML, JAVA and JavaScript.
Therefore, all that is required is a Web Browser and a connection to the
Internet 6. Form of presentation The CDP contains over 30 training modules covering water level,
discharge and suspended sediment collection and computations. These are
available in both English and French. 7. Operational experience The CDP was developed and is used by the Water Survey of Canada, which
is the national agency responsible for the collection, interpretation and
dissemination of standardized water resource data and information in
Canada. It provides real-time, current year and historical information for
a network of over 2,400 sites in Canada. 8. Originator and technical support Water Survey of Canada, Meteorological Service of Canada, Environment
