REGIONALIZATION OF FLOW DURATION CURVES (REGFLOW)

1.   Purpose and objectives

To estimate flow duration curves, and to relate these to geomorphological characteristics so that flow duration curves may be estimated for ungauged basins in the region.

2.   Description

The REGFLOW program package uses mean monthly runoff data for the estimation of flow duration curves, which are then fitted by a standardised equation. The parameters of the fitted duration curves are then related to the geomorphological data of the river basins.

The program package REGFLOW consists of:

     - QD:    Program for the calculation of flow duration curves.
     - PARAM: Program for the estimation of the best equation for Q-D curves.
     - REGION:Program for relating the Q-D parameters to the geomorphological data.
     - GRAPH: Program for plotting Q-D curves.

3.   Input

Mean monthly runoff for the basins in the region, and geomorphological data of the basins.

4.   Output

Parameters of the flow duration curves, and equations relating these to geomorphological data, to be used to estimate the flow duration curves for ungauged basins.

5.   Operational requirements and restrictions

All programs operate on an IBM or compatible PC using DOS 2.1 or later  and are written in FORTRAN-77.

6.   Form of presentation

Source programs on diskette and user manual.

7.   Operational experience

The REGFLOW program package has been applied in different parts of various river basins.

8.   Originator and technical support

The REGFLOW program package was developed by L. Liroudia, Civil Engineer, National Technical University of Athens.

9.   Availability

From the HOMS National Reference Centre for Greece.

10.  Conditions on use

The program will be provided for the cost of reproduction and mailing.
