COMPUTATION OF CONTINUOUS RECORDS OF STREAMFLOW

1.   Purpose and objectives

To describe how continuous records of discharge are computed from continuous records of river stage, discharge measurements, and other field information.

2.   Description

The manual describes the computation procedures used and some details of field operations. It covers stage data from digital recorder stations, chart-recorder stations, and nonrecording stations.

3.   Input

Stage record, discharge measurements, and other field data relating to streamflow.

4.   Output

Daily discharges for the period analysed and maximum and minimum discharges.

5.   Operational requirements and restrictions

Reliability of the computed discharges depends on the quality of the gauge site, the reliability of the stage record, the number and distribution (in stage) of discharge measurements, and the experience of
the analyst.

6.   Form of presentation

     Manual in English.

7.   Operational experience

     Extensive.

8.   Originator and technical support
