DEBRIS FLOW ALARM SYSTEM |
||
1. Purpose and objectives This system predicts the occurrence of debris flow and other sediment disasters caused by heavy rain, and informs operators in charge of this information according to the rainfall data. 2. Description This system consists basically of multiple raingauges and a supervisory station. Repeater stations may be required according to the radio propagation conditions between each gauging station and the supervisory station. The system provides the following functions: (a) Automatic rainfall data collection function; (b) Debris flow occurrence prediction (warning and evacuation decision) function; (c) Information transfer function to operators in charge of the system using the telephone answering equipment. Supervisory station handles up to 16 rain gauges with expansion to 32 gauges as an option. This system has the additional functions of collection and processing
of trip wire disconnection information for detection of debris flow occurrence. 3. Input Rainfall data for every 1 mm by a self-reporting system (automatic start-up system). 4. Output (1) Data Printing. (2) Warning Output. (3) Data storage. 5. Operational requirements and restrictions This system is operating automatically. However, for the disaster forecasting and warning, an operation /maintenance team is recommended, consisting, for example, of one (1) supervisor, one (1) engineer and two (2) technicians. A period of one month is required to survey and install the component. The training necessary for successful implementation and use of the component is as follows: Factory training : one (1) week The computer system consists of: Hardware processor : i486SX/33MHz Characteristics of power supply, special environment and other related requirements: Power supply : solar cells (12V DC) or alternating current Measuring unit of rain gauge: 1 mm/tilt 6. Form of presentation Catalogues are available. 7. Operational experience Several hundred gauging stations and one hundred or more supervisory
stations have been installed worldwide. 8. Originator and technical support Japan Radio Co., Ltd. 9. Availability From the HOMS National Reference Centre for Japan. 10. Conditions on use Instrument for sale.
