TELEPHONE SERVICE WATER LEVEL GAUGE

 

1.   Purpose and objectives

     This Telephone Service Water Gauge utilises telephone circuits to supply water level information on remote dams and rivers using a voice message.

2.   Description

     The system consists of a water level transmitter, a telephone service controller and an ordinary telephone receiver. The system is activated from a remote location by calling its telephone number; callers receive the water level data by means of a voice message.

     -  Water level information is available at any time and any place.

     -  High precision mechanism.

     -  Easy access.

     -  Either an ordinary telephone line or a leased-line can be used.

3.   Input

     Input signals are B.C.D. (Binary Coded Decimal) signals using an analog to digital conversion unit connected to the water level transmitter.

4.   Output

     -  Automatic service for telephone circuits using a voice message.

     -  The system provides the water level using a voice message.

5.   Operational requirements and restrictions

     - Operations personnel should have a basic knowledge of electrical circuitry; a licence is needed for        the telephone installation.

     - A monthly equipment inspection is required.
        
     - Ambient temperatures 0 - 50°C, humidity 0 - 90% R.H.

6.   Form of presentation

     A catalogue and instrument specifications are available.

7.   Operational experience

     More than 170 sets have been installed in Japan since 1967. Eight sets have been exported.
