WATER QUALITY ANALYTICAL METHODS MANUAL 1979

 

1.   Purpose and objectives

     The Analytical Methods Manual describes methods for the analysis of major ions, trace metals, nutrients and other organic and inorganic constituents in surface waters, wastewaters, sediments and other aquatic media.

2.   Description

     This second edition of the Analytical Methods Manual in loose-leaf format describes and updates over one hundred methods used by the Water Quality Branch Laboratories, Environment Canada, for conducting analyses on surface waters, wastewaters, sediments and other aquatic media. Methods for 
this manual have been selected from various sources. As new methods become available they will automatically be distributed to holders of this manual.

     None.

6.   Form of presentation

     A published document in loose-leaf format.

7.   Operational experience

     All newly developed or modified methods have been tested in several Water Quality Branch Regional Laboratories and the evaluation of results for this testing is the principal basis for their acceptance for inclusion in this Manual. Many of these methods have been used successfully in laboratories across Canada for ten years. This Manual has been used by many Provincial laboratories as well as in private sector laboratories.
