CHANJANG BED-LOAD SAMPLER |

1. Purpose and objectives An instrument
for measuring the bed-load of a sandy stream. 2. Description The sampler is
100 cm long, 25 cm high and has an intake 10 cm wide. It can hold
16 kg of sand. 3. Input The sand
bed-load. 4. Output Bed-load transport integrated over a period of time. May be used in
an alluvial stream with 50% of the particles smaller than 1.6 mm
and mean velocity up to 2.5 m/s. 5. Operational requirements and restrictions None. 6. Form of presentation Design
drawings 7. Operational experience Developed in
1978 and has been used since as standard equipment on the Yangtze
River. 8. Originator and technical support Hydrometric
centre, Yangtze Valley Planning Office, Hang Kow, China. 9. Availability From the HOMS
