WATER RESOURCES MANAGEMENT: POLICIES AND GUIDELINES
1. Purpose and Objectives To provide examples of a wide range of policies and guidelines necessary for the sustainable management and orderly development of water resources within a country or region. 2. Description The Australian Commonwealth and State governments have embarked on a national program for ecologically sustainable development of the countries natural resources. A key component of this program is the development of policies, principles and guidelines to ensure a nationally consistent approach to resource management. These policies, principles and guidelines are presented as examples to assist other countries and regions to develop policies, principles and guidelines relevant to their particular circumstances. The list of documents and their availability will change over time and the documents available as of May 2000 are detailed below.
