INMARSAT Mini C System for Buoy Communication and Tracking Applications

ABSTRACT:

The presentation deals with the use of INMARSAT C Easy Track equipment for Data Buoy communication as well for buoy tracking application. The TT-3026LM easyTrack is the world's first Inmarsat mini-C system, comprising transceiver, antenna, and 12-channel GPS receiver in one single unit. The easyTrack is the 4th generation Inmarsat-C system from Thrane & Thrane, and weights only 1.1 kg /2.4 lbs and is less that 15 cm/6" high. EasyTrack offers global data communication via the Inmarsat-C Satellite Network, and supports all Inmarsat-C services. The extremely compact design and power conserving features of easyTrack makes it very attractive for use in Simple met buoys. It ensures fast and reliable transfer of vital information. The easyTrack features an advanced sleep mode function, enabling both timer and event controlled wake up routines, reducing the typical total power consumption to between 11 mW and 288 mW depending on the reporting interval.

The TT-3026LM easyTrack includes a number of port options supporting interfacing requirements, such as a suite of Meteorological sensors etc, as well as 6 configurable I/O pins. The easyTrack has a built-in feature to reconfigure the settings remotely using the Capsat® Manager 3.5.
