Training and Awareness An important goal of the WMO Space Programme is to promote the capacity of WMO Members to make wide and meaningful use of satellite data and products, with particular attention being paid to the needs of less advanced countries. The Space Programme organizes or co-sponsors Training events in various WMO Regions with the support of CGMS Members.

Center of Excellence, Barbados
A key component of the Strategy for Education and Training in Satellite Meteorology as adopted by the Executive Council, is the CGMS-WMO Virtual Laboratory with the network of regional Centres of Excellence and associated Regional Focus Groups. VLab is a global network of specialised training centres and meteorological satellite operators working together to improve the use of data and products from meteorological and environmental satellites throughout WMO member countries.
